From a field of 64, only 8 ladies remain to vie for first place at the WPBA Pacific Coast Classic. Hosted by Chinook Winds Casino & Resort in Lincoln City, OR, this event will conclude Sunday, October 5.

The final round of 16 began earlier Saturday evening, with half of the field coming in from the one-loss side and half from the winners’ side. Monica Webb found herself challenged by Janet Atwell but was too strong, advancing 9-7 to meet defending champ Allison Fisher in the quarterfinals. Fisher had ousted Sarah Rousey with a resounding 9-3 win.

Villareal will match up against third-ranked Xiaoting Pan, who earlier wreaked revenge on Gerda Hofstatter and eliminated her 9-6. In the previous round, Hofstatter had sent Pan to the west side of the chart 9-6.

Number-two-ranked Karen Corr returns from the one-loss side to challenge fellow former snooker player Kim Shaw after winning a 9-8 nail-biter over Line Kjorsvik. Corr suffered a surprising 9-6 loss in the first round to Kyoko Sone. Shaw pulled off a 9-4 defeat of U.S. Open runner-up Iris Ranola of the Philippines.

The last quarterfinal match will feature the tour’s number-one-ranked player, Kelly Fisher, versus Yu Ram Cha. Interestingly, Fisher lost in the second round to Cha 9-7. To reach the quarterfinals, Fisher eliminated Jeanette Lee 9-4, while Cha sent Anna Kostanian packing 9-6.
